JOLT PROMOTES MATTHEW DE LA CRUZ TO DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Jolt Action and Jolt Initiative are proud to announce the promotion of Matthew De La Cruz to Development Director. Matthew has dedicated three years of his career to Jolt, which he first joined as a volunteer, before becoming a part-time employee, then the Foundation Giving Manager, and most recently, fulfilling the newly re-established role of Development Director.
As Development Director, Matthew will have the exciting opportunity to build a fundraising program from the ground up and help the organization raise the funds necessary to change the way Texas is run. In partnership with the Executive Director and Deputy Director, he will be responsible for building an annual fundraising plan with a focus on individual donor recruitment, cultivation and stewardship.
“I am so grateful to Jolt for the professional opportunity to grow from being a volunteer, to a part-time employee, and to now be part of the leadership team,” De La Cruz said. “This organization demonstrates through its practices that it truly believes in empowering young Latinos to be in positions of power. I am so excited to continue to mobilize resources for our Organizers and volunteers so that they can lead this movement for a more representative Texas.”
De La Cruz’s efforts have been critical to growing and maintaining relationships with key donors without whom none of the work that Jolt – the largest civic engagement organization for young Latinos in Texas – does would be possible. In the first half of 2022, his team raised over $2.5 million to fund Jolt’s voter registration efforts, leadership development programming and arts and culture initiatives.
“At Jolt, we believe in ambitiously maximizing every opportunity. The work we do involves countless individuals that help us get closer to achieving our goals and cannot be accomplished without the passion and dedication of employees like Matthew,” said Jolt Deputy Director Jackie Bastard.
“Matthew has been a long-term supporter of Jolt’s mission and started his journey as a volunteer in 2019 alongside our former Development Director learning Jolt’s communication and narrative strategy,” Bastard said. “In 2020, Matthew joined the team as a part-time Grant Writer and became a full-time employee shortly after. His continued dedication and passion to advocate for Jolt led to his promotion as our Foundation Giving Manager in 2021 and now our Development Director. We value the work of everyone at Jolt and continue looking at internal talent to take Jolt to the next level.”
