Texas — The following is a statement from Antonio Arellano, Jolt’s Interim Executive Director, on the Supreme Court’s rejection of a lawsuit filed by Texas challenging election procedures in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
“The Supreme Court’s rejection of this frivolous lawsuit is yet another nail in the coffin for Donald Trump’s attempt to suppress the will of American voters. The suit was a desperate attempt to discredit the will of the American people, who overwhelmingly elected Joe Biden.
“As the leading Latino civic organization in Texas, we applaud this decision by the nation’s highest court to uphold our democracy and the will of the American people.
“Texas is ill-served by its Attorney General, who led the charge on this disgraceful attack on our nation’s democracy. As Texans, we urge our elected officials not to allow AG Ken Paxton to continue undermining the rule of law, abusing his power, and making a mockery of our government. It’s time for Ken Paxton to leave office—willingly or not. He should be impeached.”
