A tenured leader, Jackie is poised to lead Jolt in empowering Latino communities
AUSTIN, Texas (January 20, 2025) — Jolt Action and Jolt Initiative are proud to announce that Jackie Bastard has been named Executive Director. This marks a significant milestone for the organizations as they continue to expand their mission of empowering Latinos and increasing civic engagement.
“I am deeply honored to step into this role and continue working alongside the incredible team at Jolt,” said Jackie Bastard, Executive Director. “Coming into this role during a time of economic discontent and political neglect felt by Latinos gives us the opportunity to address these challenges and ignite the true power of Jolt and our programs.”
Jackie brings nearly six years of dedicated service to Jolt, most recently as Deputy Director. She served as second-in-command as the Jolt team registered nearly 35,000 new voters in this last election cycle. Jolt prides itself on igniting passions for civic engagement among young Texas through its network of college chapters and leadership training programs.
“Jackie’s journey with Jolt is a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and passion for empowering Latino communities,” said Stacie Sanchez Hare and Lorely De León, Board Chairs of Jolt Initiative and Jolt Action. “As we plan for the next chapter, we believe her leadership will position the organization to positively support the community as it navigates challenges like voting and immigration.”
A first-generation college graduate, Jackie is passionate about Jolt’s mission and protecting civil liberties, as evidenced by her courageous work in lockstep with Jolt’s leadership team in the face of AG Ken Paxton’s attempts to target Latino voter registration groups in 2024.
Under Jackie’s leadership, Jolt will focus on developing a comprehensive strategic plan, strengthening its programs, and advancing its mission to inspire civic engagement and political empowerment within Latino communities.
