National Voter Registration Day Statement

As Texas’s largest Latino civic engagement organization, Jolt Action is proud to celebrate National Voter Registration Day. Our vote is our voice and one of the most powerful tools we have to create meaningful change in our communities. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering Latino Texans to exercise their fundamental right to vote and shape the future of our state.

By registering to vote and showing up at the polls, we transform our individual voices into collective power. When we participate in democracy, we ensure our community’s priorities—from healthcare and education to immigration reform and economic opportunity—are heard and addressed.

The numbers tell a compelling story about the untapped potential of Latino political power in Texas: In 2023, 40.2% of Texas was Latino, but our representation in elected offices and policy decisions does not reflect our growing numbers.

Consider these powerful statistics:
• There are 31 million Texans, of which 40% (12.4 million) are Latinos
• 6.5 million Latinos are eligible voters, with 60% being under the age of 35
• 50% of all Texans 18 years and younger are Latino

These numbers represent more than just demographics—they represent the future of Texas. Our community’s political engagement today will shape policies that affect generations to come. Whether it’s ensuring quality education for our children, fighting for workers’ rights, or protecting our families’ access to healthcare, every vote matters.

Your vote is your power. Don’t wait—register today and help build the Texas we all deserve.
