Austin, Texas — Following historic voter participation in the 2026 Texas Democratic Primary, Jolt Action is celebrating a powerful show of people powered momentum across the state and announcing its endorsement of James Talarico for U.S. Senate.
This year’s primary saw record engagement underscoring a political reality that cannot be ignored. Texas is changing. Our electorate is younger, more diverse, and more determined to build a future rooted in dignity, economic justice, and real freedom.
During this primary cycle, Jolt Action mobilized at scale to help shape outcomes across the ballot. From college campuses to digital organizing, to peer to peer outreach, young Latino Texans showed up to make their voices heard.
Today, Jolt is proud to stand with James Talarico in the race for U.S. Senate.
Jolt Action Executive Director Jackie Bastard issued the following statement:
“Congratulations to every candidate who stepped forward to run in this primary and put their name on the ballot. Running for office is an act of courage and service. We especially want to recognize Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for running a strong, values driven campaign that inspired voters across the state.
Young people, Latino voters, and working class families are demanding bold and courageous leadership.
Rep. James Talarico understands that public service is about lifting up those too often left behind. He has consistently fought for the most vulnerable among us, defended immigrant rights, and stood up to extremist attacks on our democracy.
At a time when Texas families are struggling with rising costs and threats to our basic rights, we need a U.S. Senator who will fight for living wages, healthcare as a human right, climate justice, and a democracy that works for working people. James Talarico has demonstrated the courage and moral clarity this moment demands.”
Jolt Action’s endorsement reflects its commitment to advancing an agenda that listens to young Latino voters and working class Texans. In the weeks ahead, the organization will continue activating thousands of voters across the state to build the coalition necessary to win in November.
Historic turnout in this primary proves what we have always known. When we organize, we win. When young Latinos participate, we shape the future of Texas.
The road to the U.S. Senate runs through our communities. And this movement is just getting started.
