Texas Primary Runoff Marks Clear Contrast Ahead of November Election

HOUSTON, TX — Following tonight’s Texas primary runoff election results, Jolt Action’s Executive Director Jackie Bastard released the following statement:

“Tonight’s runoff results made one thing clear: Texans face a defining choice about the future of our state.

For too long, Texas Republicans and their allies have protected a broken status quo built on voter suppression, attacks on our freedoms, and policies that target Latino communities and immigrant families. From voter purges to gerrymandering, their priority has never been serving Texans. It has been protecting their own power.

But this election is not simply about red versus blue. It is about billionaires versus working families.

Corporate money and billionaire-funded political machines have kept Texas Republicans in power while everyday Texans struggle to afford rent, healthcare, and basic necessities. People are tired of barely getting by. They want the opportunity to get ahead and build stable futures with dignity.

This November, Latino voters have the power to say ‘basta’ to corruption, extremism, and division and choose a new direction for Texas.

Across the state, we are seeing growing energy, historic participation, and a new generation demanding hope, accountability, and real change. Latino voters have the power to shape Texas’ future, and Jolt Action will continue organizing and mobilizing young Latino voters to make their voices heard loud and clear this fall.”
